Spiegel Haus Melbourne, the multi-level, multi-venue cultural playground, is home to a purpose-built entertainment precinct hosting a free festival this month.

Melbourne’s freezing winter is about to get warmer, as Verbena Rooftop hosts a Latin American takeover at Spiegel Haus on Saturday, 18 July. You can expect a vibrant celebration of music, dance, food, and culture, guaranteed to warm the soul.

Punters will get to experience live Latin bands and DJs, dance performances (social dancing is encouraged), authentic Latin American cuisine, artisan market stalls, cultural showcases and storytelling, family-friendly activities, and hear from community organisations and take part in Latin American culture.

The festival, presented in partnership with Latin Stories Australia, coincides with this year’s Colombian Independence Day weekend.

The event launches at 2 pm, offering daytime cultural experiences, followed by energetic evening programming, coming to a close at 7 pm. The richness and diversity of Latin American culture will be showcased in just one day, but an unforgettable one.

Verbena Rooftop is free to attend and will accept donations to support relief efforts for the recent earthquakes in Venezuela, courtesy of Latin Stories Australia. Punters of all ages are encouraged to attend and enjoy a great weekend in the city. Reserve your free entry here.

Spiegel Haus is located on the rooftop of the Golden Square Car Park, between Lonsdale Street and the Little Bourke Street Chinatown precinct.

The venue, recognised as the Melbourne CBD’s “exciting new destination for the performing arts and nightlife,” opened in late 2025 and has already been lauded as an in-demand, successful space for cultural events.

“Spiegel Haus has struck a real chord with both audiences and artists,” said Spiegel Haus Melbourne Creative Director, Chris Mitchell (via Australian Art Review).

“It combines the nostalgia and escapism people love about Spiegel Tents with the kind of intimate 200 to 500-seat venues Melbourne CBD has been missing, all within a unique multi-level setting.

“That, together with our festival partnerships and diverse programming, has made it a truly special destination for live performance.”
