Shebeen returns to live music
Melbourne-based live music and promotion company Corner Presents have taken on their fifth venue and will now be booking live artists into the 200-cpacity bandroom at Shebeen.
Formerly named Manchester Lane, where it is located, Corner Presents have come on board to book the venue, giving them four venues in the Melbourne market and one in Sydney. Most reccently Shebeen has been used as a bar and cafe set-up, with the operaters advertising that 100 percent of their profits are donated to charities around the world.
A separate company to the owners of the Corner Hotel, the Corner Presents group is now programming entertainment for Melbourne's 300 capacity Northcote Social Club, the 800 capacity Corner Hotel, the re-branded 1,000 capacity Billboard The Venue – now called 170 Russell, and the Shebeen.
They will also book Sydney's Newtown Social Club – with an identical set-up to the Northcote Social Club – when that kicks into gear in the coming months. The group, which works closely with festival programmer Richard Moffat, are no longer working with the Workers Club.

The first booking for Shebeen is Soul A-Go-Go, which will take place Saturday 1 March.
