Beloved WA Frontman Inks Label Deal & Drops New Album

Perth singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Mitch McDonald, who fronts The Love Junkies, has signed with Blue Grey Pink and released a new album.

Super Happy Fun Land is the debut album from Westminster Day Surgery, a new solo project from McDonald.

The tracks on the new album, which is out now, are “a collection of songs written and recorded over the past 11 years and the beginning of a new venture by the artist”.

“There was a time in WA where The Love Junkies and the songs of Mitch McDonald were adored and celebrated as the pinnacle of WA music,” Blue Grey Pink’s Mark Neal said.

“For a lot of people (myself included) they still are the pinnacle. Mitch brings together witty brutal honest lyrics and twisted indie melodies that are instantly unforgettable. They’ll rattle around your brain and become part of your life before you know it.

“This album is more than a collection of leftover Love Junkies songs, this is genius songwriting, and this a new chapter for one of the most important songwriters in WA music history.

“It's an absolute honour to be able to work with Mitch, and release this album on Blue Grey Pink.”
