Lorde fans will have the opportunity to hear her new album, Virgin, ahead of its release. Today, the singer-songwriter has announced numerous listening parties to be held next Wednesday and Thursday (25 and 26 June), six of which will take place in Australia and New Zealand.
In her home country of New Zealand, the listening parties will occur next Wednesday at three Flying Nun locations in Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington.
The Australian listening parties will take place next Thursday at Brisbane’s Rockaway Records, Sydney’s Hum On King, and Melbourne’s Oh! Jean Records. Head to the record stores’ websites for more information on your local listening event. You can find the full list of record stores participating in the Virgin listening parties here.
Virgin will be released on Friday, 27 June, via EMI Music Australia and Universal Music New Zealand. The album has been preceded by the singles What Was That and Man Of The Year. Lorde recently teased that another song will be released soon.
In late May, the Royals singer revealed the tracklist for Virgin. Lorde’s upcoming album contains eleven tracks and will run for 35 minutes. You can check out the tracklist below.
Earlier in May, Lorde announced the long-awaited release of Virgin—the follow-up to 2021’s Solar Power. She said of the album’s inspirations:
Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter
THE COLOUR OF THE ALBUM IS CLEAR. LIKE BATHWATER, WINDOWS, ICE, SPIT. FULL TRANSPARENCY. THE LANGUAGE IS PLAIN AND UNSENTIMENTAL. THE SOUNDS ARE THE SAME WHEREVER POSSIBLE. I WAS TRYING TO SEE MYSELF, ALL THE WAY THROUGH.
I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A DOCUMENT THAT REFLECTED MY FEMININITY: RAW, PRIMAL, INNOCENT, ELEGANT, OPENHEARTED, SPIRITUAL, MASC. I’M PROUD AND SCARED OF THIS ALBUM. THERE’S NOWHERE TO HIDE. I BELIEVE THAT PUTTING THE DEEPEST PARTS OF OURSELVES TO MUSIC IS WHAT SETS US FREE.
Lorde produced the album with Jim-E Stack and locked in additional collaborations with Fabiana Palladino, Dan Nigro (Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan), Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes (Turnstile), Andrew Aged, and Buddy Ross.
