More Lizzo More Lizzo

Splendour In The Grass has arrived with massive news this morning: this year’s event already has its first headliner, and it’s none other than global music superstar Lizzo.

With the full line-up announcement to arrive in a few weeks' time, this Special announcement will surely tide concertgoers over in the meantime.

Lizzo will be making her Splendour In The Grass debut with a headline slot, which is pretty impressive - not many artists these days could achieve that feat. Lizzo is the first black solo female R&B singer to claim the top spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 since 2012, and Truth Hurts became the longest-running #1 by a solo female rap artist ever.

Festival organisers tease “over 100 of the world’s most provocative and prolific musicians and DJs, alongside a crew of celebrated homegrown talent” to appear throughout the line-up, which is still to come.

This year’s festival will once again be held at the North Byron Parklands from Friday, 21 July to Sunday, 23 July 2023, with onsite camping accessible from Wednesday, 19 July.

Who else could be on the line-up? Well, take a cursory glance at this year’s Fuji Rock Festival in Japan (28-30 July), which often shares acts with Splendour as artists play both as part of their touring circuits - our prediction of Lizzo at Splendour, who is also a headliner at Fuji Rock, ended up being correct.

Also playing Fuji Rock, Lewis Capaldi will be wrapping up his Australian and New Zealand tour on 19 July, with space in his schedule until he heads to Manchester, UK, for a show on 25 July. Maybe day one or day two?

Alanis Morissette also has a huge gap in her tour dates that screams Splendour and making up for her cancelled Jagged Little Pill Australian tour
