Paul KellyIf you can stop yourself from getting carried away with the sudden resurgence of every lighthouse-based fantasy you stored away thanks to afternoons spent watching Round The Twist, November's Lighthouse Folk Festival — headlined by iconic Aussies Paul Kelly & Charlie Owen — is shaping up to be a corker of a live music event.
Kelly and Owen — who have an increasing number of joint appearances lined up over the next several months — will be playing songs from their new collaboration together along with well-loved Kelly hits, ably complemented by a wider line-up boasting the likes of stalwart Melbourne folk outfit Husky, freshly back from a year abroad touring Europe and raring to release their third album in 2017, as well as Central Coast duo Winterbourne, who hit the festival on the heels of a national tour of their own and the release of new EP Pendulum.
Also among the first batch of artists to sign up for the Lighthouse Folk Fest are acclaimed songstress Ainslie Wills -she's newly touting recent single Drive, and will hit the festival in the wake of a UK tour — and local troubadour Elwood Myre, with further acts still to be added and announced for the 2016 line-up.
The event itself is set to go down on Saturday 19 November at the Central Coast's iconic Norah Head Lighthouse. In addition to the accomplished musical line-up, the Lighthouse Folk Festival will also feature a range of local pop-up food stalls as well as a boutique bar from regional beer-makers the Six String Brewing Co.
Early-bird tickets will go on sale from this Thursday, 1 September, via Oztix.
