Live Music Is Coming Back To Aussie TV Screens In A Big Way This Year

A big year of programming.

It seems that 2019 is shaping up to be a big year for live music on Australian TV.

It was announced last week that SBS VICELAND's current affairs program The Feed will be changing this year, moving from a daily show to a weekly episode on Thursday nights, with a greater focus on online content throughout the week.

SBS have announced that live music will play a big role in the show's new format, with the show to feature "exclusive music performances from an expansive range of local and visiting acts", as well as interviews with artists conducted by host Marc Fennell.

The station has confirmed that performances from Conrad Sewell, Dean Lewis and Yungblud already locked in.

Sewell will appear on the program this week with a performance of his track Love Me Anyway.

It was announced late last year that Channel Ten will launch a local version of the UK's variety show style program Sunday Night Takeaway in 2019, to be hosted by Julia Morris and Dr Chris Brown.

The network has since confirmed to The Music that the show will definitely feature live music acts, though they are yet to be confirmed at this stage.

Additionally, Takeaway will also feature a feature dubbed 'Singalong Live' where beloved artists will sing their classics and get the audience to do the same.

The news comes after a big few weeks of programming news, with confirmation that beloved music quiz show RocKwiz will not return to SBS and MTV announcing the hosts for their revived Total Request Live will premiere in March.

The Feed will air from 8.30pm Thursday on SBS VICELAND, while the air date for Takeaway is still to be confirmed.
