Another huge night for the show.

More Kate Ceberano More Kate Ceberano

The Masked Singer has unveiled another well-known Australian musician as a contestant this week, with singer Kate Ceberano unmasked as The Lion.

Ceberano is now the seventh contestant to be knocked out of the competition but one of only three professional singers so far, with country star Adam Brand revealed as The Dragon last week and former child star Nikki Webster unmasked as The Alien in week two.

Other unveiled contestants have so far included Gretel Killeen, Brett Lee, Wendell Sailor and Darren McMullen

While Ceberano was judged favourably throughout the season for her take on songs like Panic! At The Disco's High Hopes, Billie Eilish's Bad Guy and David Bowie's Heroes, it was her performance of Maroon 5's Moves Like Jagger that sent her home.

Ceberano was a favourite guess from those playing at home from week one of the show but somehow the judges - Dannii Minogue, Lindsay Lohan, Jackie O and Dave Hughes - didn’t pick this one.

When revealed, Jackie O told the singer "I absolutely love you. I listen to your music in my car everyday. I can’t believe I didn’t guess you."

Clues pointed towards everything from Ceberano’s small family to her daughter named Gypsy, as well as her Logie Award win for Most Popular Music Video in 1993 (the category is now defunct) and Queen's Birthday Honour of Member of the Order of Australia (AM) which she was awarded in 2016 for her services to music and charities.

"This is a show of great virtue because although it’s really wacky, being in a suit, you are without colour, age, size, your gender," she told the panel when revealed.

"It's completely erased what you are. It’s just free."

Securing an artist like Ceberano is a pretty mean feat for the show - which is only in its first season in Australia - given that she picked up the ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album quite literally last week for her work TRYST with Paul Grabowsky

In the past few months, she has also released a track with Steve Kilbey and Sean Sennett so a stint on The Masked Singer for the multi award winning artist was even more unexpected.

The show, which is now in its fourth week, has seen another strong run in the ratings, picking up 1,155,000 for the reveal portion and 905,000 for the main show.

Subsequently the show's pull is so strong that following show Have You Been Paying Attention? has scored its highest ever week in the ratings with 946,000 viewers. Its previous best was 876,000 viewers in May 2017

The Masked Singer will air its next episode on Channel 10 tonight from 7.30pm, with two of the remaining five contestants set to be unmasked.
