Tasman Wilson, bassist in Adam Newling's band, and Sammy Flipo, G-Flip's sister, got engaged at Laneway Festival in Brisbane on Saturday.
In a video shared to the festival's Instagram account, people in the audience were waving a large banner that said, "Tasman, will you marry me?" Newling saw it and called out to his bandmate, "Hey Tas, what does that say? Hey Tas, can you read that out to us all?"
Wilson absentmindedly said "yes," not realising that his longtime girlfriend Sammy Flipo got down on one knee behind him.
"MY SISTER AND BROTHER IN LAW ! Welcome to the family TASSSSY!" G-Flip wrote on Instagram.
On Sammy Flipo's Instagram, she explained her motivation behind the on-stage proposal. Her post reads, "4 years ago we met at Brisbane Laneway. 4 years later I got on stage and proposed. And he said yes!"
Flipo added, "Thank you to everyone involved for keeping the biggest secret from Tas. I fucking love you Tasman Wilson !"
