Kate Ceberano’s new album, My Life Is A Symphony with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra has debuted at #6 on the ARIA Albums Chart and #2 on the Australian Albums Chart.
It is her 17th ARIA Top 50 album, including albums with her Septet, I’m Talking and Wendy Matthews. Ceberano has had seven Top 10 albums, including Brave, which peaked at #2 in 1989.
“Celebrating at Ceberano/Rogers household tonight with a lamb roast….caught mid mouth-full with unexpected news - HOLY Shiiiiiiiiiit,” Ceberano wrote on Facebook. “Now we’re too excited to finish dinner”!
To celebrate the brilliant news, Ceberano went live on social media. Interrupting her family’s roast dinner (“the smell of roast lamb is driving Pluto [the dog] crazy,” she laughed), Ceberano was simply beaming at the achievement.
It’s not often that we see an artist so real and sharing an excited video with fans, mid-dinner, to let them know that it wouldn’t be possible without them. Check out the live-streamed video below.

Earlier this year, Kate Ceberano’s name made it into the Macquarie Dictionary. Sharing the achievement on Facebook, the Pash singer captioned the photo of her name in the dictionary, “Ooooh look at me. I’ve made it to my favourite place in the whole wide world, amongst the words! Thank you Macquarie dictionary.”
She also included the hashtag #readdictionariesjustforfun, which excited one fan in the comments who does the same thing.
Another fan wrote, “I read it as Australian pop and rock goddess!”
In 2021, a portrait of Kate Ceberano won the prestigious Packing Room Prize at the Archibald Prize ceremony.
Created by renowned portrait artist Kathrin Longhurst, the oil on linen piece depicted Ceberano on a red background and was initially intended to act as the cover art for the 2021 release Sweet Inspiration.
"Although the album cover deadline had expired, we decided to paint the portrait to create a record of Kate at this important moment in her life and as a legacy for her daughter," Longhurst said of the experience.
Longhurst added, "In 2020, the pandemic decimated the entertainment industry. The extended lockdown in Melbourne had devastating consequences for Kate and many of her fellow performers. But it ended up being an enormous year of growth and personal breakthroughs for her, culminating in her decision to move her family to Sydney to chase the work."
Ceberano said in her official statement, "I feel the painting expressed my concern for the future. But I still feel strong, like a proud 'Mohican'”.
