Photographer Kane Hibberd has been touring with the Soundwave festival since it went national back in 2008 and now he is releasing a warts-and-all look behind one of the country's biggest ever festivals.
With over 600 photographs in the 450 page book, Kanye Lens Vs Soundwave Volume 1 is a comprehensive look at the country's major heavy music festival and shows the rapid growth that it has enjoyed over the pass four years. As well as plenty of Hibberd's excellent photographs, there is personal commentary to go along with the shots, giving audiences a look into what happens both on and off stage.
“From the moment I was asked to jump on board the Soundwave machine, my goal was to, one day, produce a coffee table style photography book," Hibberd said in a statement today.
"I grew up watching Tony Mott create a legacy with the Big Day Out and now this is hopefully the start of my own legacy. I've tried to create book full of imagery that can escape the shadow of its famous inhabitants and stand alone as beautiful pieces of artwork. Hopefully the book will appeal to not only music fans, but also fans of photography"
Hibberd, who is a regular contributor to Street Press Australia titles and theMusic.com.au, is publishing the book independently and funding the whole project with his own money. He will individually number the first 2000 copies of the book, which you can preorder now through his website.
