The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris have delivered some truly unforgettable moments lately, and the latest comes during the women’s beach volleyball final. The game managed to incorporate John Lennon’s 1971 activist hit Imagine, played by the DJ in an effort to cool off a heated exchange between players.

Between the pressure of a gold-medal final match and the heat of the Parisian summer, Friday’s Women’s Beach Volleyball tournament erupted into tension when a fight broke out between Brazil’s Ana Patricia Silva Ramos and Canada’s Brandie Wilkerson. The altercation escalated into shouting and finger-pointing, as the referee stepped in to try and get the 2v2 match back on track.

While fans watched at the edge of their seat for a verdict from the ref, the DJ took the opportunity to weave some musical harmony with the Lennon song Imagine.

While Canada’s Wilerson was handed a yellow card, all four players cracked a smile at the song choice, before the game continued on. Brazil ultimately won with two points to Canada’s one.

Elsewhere at the Olympics, this year’s closing ceremony aired yesterday (August 11) with performances from the likes of Phoenix, Air, Billie Eilish, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg and more. It followed the historic opening ceremony that saw Celine Dion make an epic comeback to the stage after four years, and Gojira crowned as the first metal band to ever perform at the Olympics.
