There’s wonderful news from the Farnham family today, as James Farnham and his partner Dr Tessa Effendi have welcomed their first baby, officially making superstar singer John Farnham a grandfather.
Baby boy Jett John Farnham arrived before the expected date of his birth and was born on the afternoon of Wednesday, 18 June, at the St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Melbourne, weighing 3.176 kgs.
In a statement, James and Tessa said, “We thought we were excited to meet him, but turns out he was even more excited to meet us, arriving a little ahead of schedule. Jett is our whole world in one tiny, noisy, perfect package. We’re smitten, we’re sleep-deprived, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Jill and John Farnham, officially first-time grandparents, added: “We are over the moon about the arrival of this perfectly beautiful little boy. He’s already filled our hearts with so much love, and we’re so proud and happy for James and Tessa. Welcome to the world, Jett!”
The Music congratulates the Farnham family on the arrival of baby Jett!
John Farnham released his debut memoir, The Voice Inside, last year. He co-wrote the book alongside Poppy Stockell, director of the documentary John Farnham: Finding The Voice.

The book explores Farnham’s upbringing in Melbourne in the ‘60s, his release of the highest-selling Australian album of all time (Whispering Jack), his decades-long touring career, and his story of resilience.
As well as the successes, Farnham examines the darkness: the years in which his career stalled, facing debts, triumphing through adversity, even against mouth cancer, and moving forward after the heartbreaking loss of his long-time friend and manager, Glenn Wheatley.
Last June, Farnham’s son Rob shared photos from his wedding with his wife, Melissa. In the series of pictures posted to social media, Rob shared a snap with his dad and one with the newlyweds and their families. John Farnham looked well and happy in the first public shots since his cancer treatment and surgery.
