Back in August of 2023, a year after he underwent the surgery – and a month after he was formally given the “all clear” by his doctors – Farnham shared a personal statement to declare himself “the luckiest man I know right now”. He wrote at the time: “I'm home now and I’m a very grateful and happy man. I’m sitting here in my living room lapping up the attention from my beautiful wife, Jill, my boys Rob and James and my mini Schnauzer, Edmund.
He added, referencing the fan-made website launched to share supportive messages to him, weloveyoujohn: “It’s only now that I can start to appreciate and comprehend, for myself, how many messages of love and support have been sent to me over the past year.”
Also in August of this year, Shannon Noll and Natalie Bassingthwaighte joined forces to pay tribute to Farnham, duetting on a cover of his hit Two Strong Hearts. Then, in September, Farnham threw his support behind the historic referendum to send a First Nations Voice to parliament (which was ultimately unsuccessful), lending the ‘Yes’ campaign his classic track You’re The Voice.
October saw Farnham release a limited vinyl reissue of his iconic Age Of Reason album, celebrating its 35th anniversary.
