Beloved Australian rocker and bluesy troubadour John Butler has announced a massive tour of Australia this September and October.
While Butler toured in Australia last year to support his most recent albums, he hasn’t toured nationwide with a band since 2019.
The forthcoming tour will see the Zebra musician trek across the country, beginning at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on Friday, 5 September, before travelling to Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Bendigo, Ballarat, Thirroul, Sydney, the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Toowoomba, Bundaberg, Darwin, Cairns, and Townsville on Sunday, 5 October.
Special guest Emma Donovan is set to join Butler throughout the tour, while The Waifs will appear in two cities – Cairns and Darwin. Butler’s Adelaide show will be presented in association with the Adelaide Guitar Festival, his Toowoomba show in conjunction with Brisbane Festival, and his Townsville show in association with the Northern Australian Festival of Arts.
Tickets to all shows will be available on Friday, 20 June, at 12 pm local time via the John Butler Trio website.
Butler is touring in support of his highly personal new album, PRISM. Set for release on Friday, 5 September, the record has been described as “contemplative and explosive, joyous and free, funk-filled, cinematic and unapologetic”. It contains the already-released singles Trippin’ On You and So Sorry.

PRISM follows the release of Butler’s recent albums, Running River and Still Searching. All three records are part of his “Four Season” roll-out; the latest marking Season Three of the release schedule.
Butler said of his upcoming run, “I am really looking forward to touring Oz again with the band for the Prism album launch. Loving playing with Ian Peres, Michael Boase and reuniting with Michael Barker on the drums. We’ve been having such a great time bringing these new songs to life on stage, and the older songs are sounding BETTER THAN ever. Sorry, couldn’t help myself!”
