Jimmy Barnes Makes History As New Album Debuts At #1

Aussie icon Jimmy Barnes has made ARIA Albums chart history with his new album, Flesh And Blood.

The singer-songwriter today tops the ARIA Albums and Vinyl Albums charts with his 20th solo studio album, giving him his 13th #1 album, in addition to the five he released with Cold Chisel.

Barnes has the most #1 albums on the ARIA chart out of any artist, a record he claimed in 2019 with the release of My Criminal Record, surpassing both Madonna and U2 who have 11 chart-toppers.

With the release of Flesh And Blood, he also becomes the first Australian solo act to have a #1 album in every decade since the 1980s.

Appearing on this week’s episode of The Green Room podcast, Barnes told host Tiana Speter all about the album.

"I can honestly say my best work, the best of me is still to come. Which gives me a lot of joy,” he said.

He also hinted at what fans can expect from his upcoming Australian tour: "I've done a couple of warm-up shows, and I've really noticed I'm now using a lot of different aspects in my voice. 

"Before, I used to go out, and all I wanted to do was pin everybody at the back of the wall. I'm now doing it a bit sneakily, I get up there and I can win people, get them to drop their guards, then pin them to the back of the wall (laughs)."
