"It is the thing that grounds us and connects us. It also speaks to the soul, it cleanses you, it grounds you. It is the big connector."

On the 8th, 9th and 10th of April, Hub Criativo Do Beato in Lisbon will host Sónar +D, a daytime extension of festival  Sónar Lisoa 2022.

The day event will focus on a program that showcases researchers, scientists and artists from different digital fields, exploring how creativity is one of the leading forces transforming reality in the 21st century.

It's central idea revolves around Sustainability and Human Rights, with three key subthemes, including Artificial Intelligence and Algorithms, Intersections of Art, Science, Ecology, Sustainability and Climate Change; and Creative Technologies and Digital Economy: from Metaverse to Web3.

Excitingly, one of the lead speakers at the event is Jayda G, who has a background in Environmental Toxicology, and will be taking an in-depth analysis of the music/sustainability dichotomy. Jayda was born and raised in Grand Forks, British Columbia, approximately 6 hours outside of major city, Vancouver. Surrounded by nature it sparked her interest in biology, before pursuing a masters in Resource & Environmental management.

Her love for nature and its interaction with music and music cultures are deeply intertwined. In an interview with National Geographic, she described the similarities between the two, "For me, both really speak to the soul. In the end, music is the all-connector. When you are at a concert, that is when the magic happens. That is the point you are always trying to reach as a performer.

"It is the thing that grounds us and connects us. It also speaks to the soul, it cleanses you, it grounds you. It is the big connector. A couple of days ago, I was listening to one of the songbirds and commenting on how beautiful the songbirds’ song is.

"And that is the scene you are trying to create when you are making music. It is something that totally works for me personally because it is who I am."

Jayda is planning to take her fans along for a ride of learning about the scientific and biological world through a new series called, JMG Talks. It aims to marry her passion for music and science into one project, to connect people in a musical sense as well as an environmental gap.

Other speakers at the festival include Bas Grasmayer, leader of the community platform COLORS and founder of Music x, which addresses, among other things, NFTs in the context of the constantly evolving web3, artist Tupac Mártir, founder of Satore Studio, researcher and biologist Filipa Bessa.

Th full festival, Sónar Lisboa 2022, will bring together more than 100 artists in the Portuguese capital, divided into Sónar +D, Sónar by Day and Sónar by Night, with DJs including Arca, Bicep, Charlotte De Witte, DJ Shadow, Floating Points and heaps more.
