The Sydney songwriter's debut album is out today!
It's a good Friday for Dean Lewis - not only has the Aussie songwriter today dropped his debut album A Place We Knew, but he's also just gone to #1 in the US.
On the back of huge TV performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Today this week, the Sydney artist's global hit Be Alright has jumped to top spot on the Billboard Adult Pop Songs chart after placing at #3 last week.
Meanwhile the track, which has hit platinum status in the US, has also improved its placings on the Top 100 list to land at #25, #11 on the Adult Contemporary list and #15 on the Pop Songs chart.
In a new interview with The Music, Lewis opened up on his new record.
“A Place We Knew, it tells a story in a single sentence,” he said.

“To me, it [evokes] that I recorded these songs in all these different places around the world. And, secondly, it has this specific feeling to it. You know when you drive past an old house you used to live in with an ex-girlfriend, or whatever, and it’s two years later, and everyone’s moved on, but there’s all those feelings, and emotions, and memories of that place, and it’s quite a bittersweet feeling. A lot of the songs have that longing to it. That’s so powerful to me. It sums up everything.”
Lewis will return to Australia in May for a headline tour in support of the album; click on theGuidefor more details.
