After a five-year hiatus, the iconic Brisbane club, Birdees, reopens tonight (27 June).

Home to many memories and pop-culture moments, Birdees first opened its doors in 2003 and closed in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic that brought lockdowns and the shuttering of pubs, clubs, and bars.

Now, Birdees is back following an incredible $7 million revamp. According to Style Magazine, the club will feature many big nights across two levels. Level one is designed for corporate and upscale events, while level two will host an open-air beer garden, a pool, a kitchen, and laid-back vibes.

The venue’s multi-level facelift features immersive lighting, textures, and an impressive sound system, blending industrial elements with a stylish aesthetic. It will welcome curated DJ line-ups, live shows, underground house parties, and throwback sets.

A press release notes that the venue “tips its cap” to its rowdy beginnings, but for its new chapter, it emerges with sophistication. Returning to 608 Ann Street, it’s time for a new generation to carve more memories into the walls of Birdees, which has a huge launch weekend starting tonight.

The new era of Birdees’ nightlife begins tonight and will be called “MONTY”. The club remains “an ode to music culture – past, present, and future,” where you can celebrate the energy and dreams of art with fellow partygoers.

Group General Manager, Danny Webster-Clamp, explained: “Birdees is our love letter to music and the people who live for it. It’s where old-school soul and new-age sound collide, creating something Brisbane has never seen before.”

And, as noted in a statement, “everyone has a Birdees story,” such as: “first kisses, last shreds of dignity, entire relationships formed over cheap spirits and sticky dance floors. They say Mr Brightside played more times than anyone can count. Tequila Sunrises flowed like water. And the pool? Let’s just leave it there!”
