American hyper metal band I See Stars were set to tour Australia this month, but last night (13 January), they announced that the tour has been postponed. The tour was set to begin in Brisbane this Friday.

What was meant to be the group’s first tour Down Under in 14 years, I See Stars cited exhaustion and wanting to put on the best show possible for their devoted fans. Dates in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Thailand, and Taiwan will be rescheduled to “later this year.”

“Over the last couple of months, we’ve done everything we can to prepare for this tour, but it’s become clear that we are physically and mentally unable to perform right now,” the band wrote in the post addressing their fans.

They continued, “Since July, we’ve been touring nonstop across the world which has taken a toll on our overall well-being.”

I See Stars added that the decision to postpone the tour wasn’t made lightly (“We’ve never had to do this before”). They made the call to protect their health and the “integrity of the show.”

“We’ve decided to postpone these dates to later this year. We want to give you the best, most authentic performance possible, and right now, that means taking this time to recover.”

The band assured fans that the shows had not been cancelled, adding, “These shows are NOT cancelled—they are being rescheduled, and all purchased tickets will be honoured. New dates will be announced soon.

“We appreciate your love and support during this time and truly can’t wait to come back.”

The band were set to perform in Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth.

I See Stars last played in Australia for Soundwave Festival in 2011. They joined Iron Maiden, Queens Of The Stone Age, The Starting Line (who reunited for the festival), Slayer, Rob Zombie, Stone Sour, Sum 41, and stacks more.
