City Calm DownFour-piece live electronic act City Calm Down have signed to I OH YOU, the label announced today.
Joining a roster that includes DZ Deathrays, Bleeding Knees Club, Violent Soho and Snakadaktal, the band will release a new EP Movements Friday 2 November. Although a 'new' act by industry terms, the band have been playing together for three years.
Their live show – which utilises samplers, sequencers, drum modules, synthesizers as well as 'traditional' instruments – has been garnering the band attention with fans and industry, and they are signed to emerging booking powerhouse Artist Voice.
I OH YOU boss Johann Ponniah told theMusic.com.au that they would be “taking it pretty easy” with the band's development.
“There'll be a couple of launch shows in Melbourne and Sydney, but we really want to release the music and let people gangue it and discover it, because they're such a new band.”
The EP was produced by Malcolm Besley (Snakadaktal, Gold Fields).
Both Artist Voice and I OH YOU are part of the Mushroom Group of companies.
