Electronic-focused festival hypersonic has cancelled this year’s events, citing “scheduling conflicts.”
After making a major splash with its debut in Melbourne and Sydney last year, hypersonic festival was scheduled to return to both cities in November. The event was set to take over Melbourne Showground on Friday, 20 November, and Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday, 21 November.
Now, with less than a month until the festival was scheduled to return, organisers have confirmed it’s been cancelled.
“We are devastated to confirm that hypersonic Sydney and Melbourne will not be going ahead in 2026,” a statement on the event’s website reads.
It continued, “Due to scheduling conflicts, Melbourne was moved to a Friday this year. Unfortunately, this change hasn't worked out as hoped for an all-day festival. The flow-on impact has meant we can no longer deliver the festivals to the standard our artists and audience deserve.
“We are gutted. We sincerely apologise for the disappointment and thank everyone who has supported hypersonic.”
The hypersonic team explained that ticket holders have three options: a full refund processed within 21 days, transferring their hypersonic ticket to Dreamstate 2027 free of charge, or a 50% refund and keeping Dreamstate tickets if they have double passes.
“Thank you for your understanding and continued support,” the team concluded.

This year’s line-up was set to be headlined by the inimitable, influential Armin van Buuren for a second year running.
Dutch powerhouse duo W&W were also on the bill, alongside genre-defying artist Showtek, Australian dance heroes CYRIL and Timmy Trumpet, liquid drum & bass duo Hybrid Minds, a DJ set from Pendulum, and more.
The festival announced its line-up in mid-August, and tickets went on sale later that month.
Symbiotic and Hardware presented last year's hypersonic festival. Symbiotic, led by CEO Richie McNeill, also co-founded both Hardware and Stereosonic.
