More HTRK More HTRK

After more than two decades together, HTRK are still going strong, and marking their 21st birthday with a couple of big announcements.

The group, which comprises Jonnine Standish and Nigel Yang – initially started as a trio back in 2003, continuing as such until the untimely passing of Sean Stewart in 2010.

Throughout their 21-year career, the group have issued a total of six albums (including 2021’s Rhinestones), and have continued to reach new heights, having performed at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound festival earlier this year – just prior to a hometown 21st birthday show.

Back in 2009 however, HTRK unleashed their debut album out into the world, with Marry Me Tonight featuring the eclectic production of both Lindsay Gravina and Rowland S Howard. Now, the record has received its long-awaited arrival on streaming services, along with a new vinyl reissue.

Originally pressed exlusively to CD upon its release, Marry Me Tonight did receive its first vinyl pressing in 2015, though it’s been out of print since. The new pressing arrives on February 7th, with pre-orders available now.

Alongside the reissue of their debut album, HTRK have also unveiled a new digital EP titled String Of Hearts. It’s a collaborative effort which features four originals from the group, paired with cover versions and remixes of said songs.

The EP features Liars covering Waltz Real Slow, Double Virgo taking on Rent Boy, Perila reinterpreting HA, and Loraine James remixing Dream Symbol. While Dream Symbol originally appeared on 2019’s Venus In Leo, the other covers all featured on Marry Me Tonight in 2009. The group’s Bandcamp page also promises that more are on the way in the future.

HTRK have been presenting a number of shows and installations around Australia in recent weeks, with a show at the Fremantle Arts Centre scheduled for Thursday, December 12th. Full details are available via the band’s website.
