Hockey Dad Announce Aus Tour & First Album In Four Years 'Rebuild Repeat'

Windang, Wollongong indie-rock favourites Hockey Dad are back, announcing their first new album in four years, Rebuild Repeat, and a June/July Australian tour.

Joining them on tour is US hyped band Militarie Gun (on East Coast Dates only) and Melbourne’s own The Belair Lip Bombs on all dates.

The tour begins at Perth’s Rechabite on Friday, 21 June, before heading to Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall (Saturday, 22 June), Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Saturday, 29 June, Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena (Friday, 5 July), and ends at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Saturday, 6 July.

The Mastercard and Live Nation pre-sales begin at 10 am on Tuesday, 27 February, and close at 9 am on Thursday, 29 February. The general sale opens at 10 am on Thursday, 29 February. All times will be released at local time – find tickets via the Live Nation website.

The tour acts as a celebration of Hockey Dad’s big comeback, with the new album landing a week before the shows begin - on Friday, 14 June.

While fans have already heard one song from the album – Still Have Room – a few days ago, Zach Stephenson and Billy Fleming dropped the new single Base Camp. You can watch the music video below.

“This album, for me, feels like a fresh rebirth after a muddy, hazy couple of years for us and everyone else in the world,” Stephenson commented in a press release.

“Rebuild Repeat as a title kind of describes the process of making a new record as a band. You only have yourselves as raw materials. You knock down what you had from the past, re-design, rebuild it and repeat. Hopefully, you learn some structural integrity tips along your way.”

On the tour, Stephenson added, “The feeling on stage playing remains the same over all this time. It’s just deep trust and brotherhood. These new songs sound very different live, moshers fear not! Come hang out at a show. Sing some songs, see friends and make friends.”
