Groundbreaking anti-scalping technology will be introduced at major Australian sporting and music events as of next year.
As Herald Sun reports, the new Ticketmaster technology will be rolled out during the 2020 AFL season at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium and Perth’s Optus Stadium.
Ticketmaster unveiled Safetix earlier this year, with the technology offering up unique, identifiable digital tickets with an encrypted barcode that automatically refreshes every few seconds.
“These enhancements protect against tickets being screenshotted or photocopied and sold multiple times by unscrupulous resellers,” Ticketmaster said.
The shift will also allow punters to swipe their smartphones at turnstiles to gain entry, while allowing the opportunity to transfer tickets to friends, providing its current owner with a complete chain of custody.
Earlier this month, a Perth woman avoided jail time after selling fake tickets to Post Malone, Listen Out and more.
