Here Are The Top 50 Most Played Acts On Triple J In 2022

triple j have today revealed the top 50 acts played on the radio station this year.

The list boasts a whopping 60% Australian music and is led by Spacey Jane, Flume, The Wombats and Lime Cordiale. 

Other heavy hitters on the list include Gang Of Youths, Lime Cordiale, Ball Park Music, Hayden James, G Flip, Genesis Owusu, Mallrat, Camp Cope, Eliza & The Delusionals and Northlane.

First Nations artists Tasman Keith, Sycco, The Kid LAROI, Beddy Rays, Baker Boy, Budjerah and King Stingray landed on the list.

UK artists also featured heavily with 20% of the music played in the top 50 coming from acts including The Wombats, Wet Leg, Aitch, Sam Fender, Foals and Mura Masa.

Artists from the US made up 16% of the list including Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Kendrick Lamar and Lil Nas X. The Weeknd and BBNO$ are repping Canada.

38% of the list is made up of solo female artists, all female bands and acts with women in prominent roles.

They also gave a special shoutout to G Flip, who made the list for the fourth year in a row.

In the top 10, only 3 of the acts feature female members, (Spacey Jane, Stand Atlantic and Wet Leg). Dance Music featured twice in the top 10 with Flume and Hayden James. The Weeknd is the only R&B act in the top 10. Hip Hop did not feature in the top 10, with the highest rapper on the list being Aitch at 16. The most played Australian rapper this year was Tasman Keith who landed all the way down at 46. Genesis Owusu did feature on the list at 32, but labelling him a rapper based on his 2022 output felt limiting to his artistry. 

The top 10 is dominated by indie and alternative rock acts with Spacey Jane, The Wombats, Lime Cordiale, Gang Of Youths, Ball Park Music, Wet Leg and Stand Atlantic dominating the airwaves.
