Paramore’s Hayley Williams recently detailed “a week of misery” after the band were forced to postpone multiple shows due to illness.
“As you know, we postponed a handful of dates due to illness,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories. “We kick back up Saturday [29 July] in Tulsa (!!!) after a week of misery, sadness, and bellyfuls of antibiotics and steroids.”
To clarify the health issues in the Paramore camp, she added, “For the record, we did not have food poisoning or a band-wide shit fest.
“In all seriousness, this past week has been really tough. Nobody would know this but I started getting sick in Houston (non contagious) and muscled my way all the way through LA. Adrenaline is a wonder! But by the time the excitement and the nerves from all the LA shenanigans wore off, my body just gave out.”
Despite her honesty, the Thick Skull singer was attacked by “fans” for postponing shows and compared her to Dave Grohl, who performed on a custom-made throne after breaking his leg.
Williams responded on Sunday (30 July) with a screenshot of a nasty tweet and wrote on her Instagram Stories, “I have a lung infection you soft shit! Not a broken limb. One you can sing with for two hours, another you can’t.”

She added, “But worry not! The shows weren’t cancelled, merely postponed a week. Maybe you should come out to one of them,” and then, the mic-drop: “like Dave did”.
Incensed by the evident sexism thrown her way, Williams wrote a longer note addressed to “internet bros”, reminding them that rock bands like Foo Fighters don’t support “weird incel ass lifestyle[s]”.
“Don’t think for a second [that] your favorite bands – metal or punk or otherwise – endorse your weird incel ass lifestyle,” she wrote. “So many of these bands have stood side stage at our shows and treat us with respect. Why? Because they aren’t threatened by a strong woman [fronting] a great band in a completely different genre of music.”
In a separate Instagram Story, quoting someone who said Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson and Metallica’s James Hetfield still “manage” to perform as legends of heavy metal, Williams wrote the following comeback, per Consequence Of Sound, “Neither James nor Bruce are gonna suck your dick for this, love.”
