ParamoreParamore's energetic frontwoman Hayley Williams has taken to her personal Tumblr to comment on some criticisms that she has come across online — to quote her directly — about "how I can't be feminist or whether or not I'm a "good" feminist".
She refers directly to one of the comments she read — which she did not quote or link to — and the Tennessee band's 2007 banger, Misery Business, off the Platinum album, Riot!. Without Williams' explicit explanation of the comment, we can only presume that a few people online were judging what they thought was "anti-feminist" lyrical content in the song.
Williams writes, "i’ll say this: Misery Business is not a set of lyrics that I relate to as a 26 year old woman. i haven’t related to it in a very long time. those words were written when i was 17… admittedly, from a very narrow-minded perspective. it wasn’t really meant to be this big philosophical statement about anything. it was quite literally a page in my diary about a singular moment i experienced as a high schooler."
She goes on to say that her music serves as a public diary immortalised by the nature of her career and today's day and age — "people still have my diary. the past and the present. all the good AND bad and embarrassing of it! … it’s always a little nerve-wracking to bring you guys along for the ride but when i step back and think about it… it’s kind of a huge honor that anyone cares in the first place."

Wrapping up the short post, which has already garnered over 16,000 notes, Williams finishes off with, "i’m a 26 years old person. and yes, a proud feminist. just maybe not a perfect one? thanks for reading this."
Adding a post-script, she says she would go on to reflect on their self-titled album "soon".
