The legendary punk band is one of a litany of high-class local acts helping the Hard-ons celebrate their birthday

More Hard-Ons More Hard-Ons

It's a hot day for Sydney bands announcing anniversary-tour news, with the legendary Hard-ons revealing that the list of acts they've recruited as supports for their impending 30th-anniversary national tour includes a very special appearance at their hometown show from the incendiary Cosmic Psychos.

On top of that comes the news that temporarily returning to the band for the 30-year milestone will be founding member Keish de Silva, taking the Hard-ons roster to four, alongside fellow originals Peter “Blackie” Black and Ray Ahn with current member Murray Ruse.

Before the group can howl their way across the country for what they say will be never-repeated shows, at which they'll exclusively play sets of material from their first 10 years together (1984-1993), they're asking for audience input regarding the repertoire for the tour via an online fan poll. With 17 consecutive #1 songs on Aussie alternative charts that fall within that timeframe, the quality of choice is sure to be second to none.

As part of the celebrations, the Hard-ons are releasing a two-disc remaster/reissue of their major-label breakthrough Yummy, plus a split 7” single with Aussie jazz icons The Necks – both of which precede a further three 7” singles and a new current-line-up LP that will drop following the extensive tour.
