Celebrating 50 years of a massive album.
Another week down, and for all the folks in Vic who've just hit over 200 total days in lockdown, another reason to need a pick-me-up. Here's some good news from the week that has made us smile...
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of his seminal release All Things Must Pass, George Harrison has received the ultimate accolade in the form of a nature-inspired recreation of his album cover - which has already re-entered the charts following its special release last week.
Created by artist Ruth Davis, the piece is a large-scale rendition of the cover's famous gnomes, featuring giant gumboots and made with local flowers. The installation is currently erected in Duke of York Square, London.
The mini-doco for the project, executive produced by Harrison's son Dhani, features the late singer's family and wife Olivia reacting to the piece.
The junior Harrison explains that horticulture was a passion for his superstar father, explaining, "The connection with source and the connection with nature, that's how he meditated and prayed - his was gardening". Olivia, upon seeing the final product, exclaimed with adulation, calling it "the most joyous thing I have ever seen".
