Why Yes, That Is A Giant Talking John Malkovich Statue In A K-Pop Video

Actor John Malkovich is pretty well known to be an eccentric character by now, but even he can still pull out the odd surprise here and there.

The legendary star of stage and screen has taken on his most obscure role to date, playing an enormous, sentient, talking, gold statue version of himself - and of all things, for a K-Pop video.

The star of such hits as The New Pope, Burn After Reading and, of course, Being John Malkovich, revealed himself to be an avid listener of South Korean rapper CL, and did her the honour of both narrating and appearing in her new clip, Spicy.

CL also posted an adorable video to her Instagram recently, where Malkovich gushes over the singer's talent during a FaceTime call.

"First of all, I'm your number one fan," said Malkovich in the video. 

"And I'm so excited you dropped this song, it's fantastic. I'm very proud of you, I'm very delighted to see that recording, singing and dancing... it's really moving for me. I'm very proud of you."
