Everything will be happening in November

More Ian Ball More Ian Ball

Taking a bit more time from extremely popular English indie-rockers Gomez, frontman Ian Ball has announced the release of his sophomore solo record, celebrating the occasion by unveiling a 10-date Australian tour next month in correlation.

Unfold Yourself is the first solo LP release since 2007's Who Goes There, keeping himself busy touring with Gomez for the last year before bunkering down in his Los Angeles home to write and record, experimenting with some sweet synth-pop sounds mixed with his well-known vocal charm.

Ball said the writing process took turns in development, leading him to change what he's originally planned to produce.

“Although I set out to record a mainly instrumental, electronic record, I couldn't stop myself from playing acoustic guitar and writing songs over the top,” Ball said.

“What was originally supposed to be long and sprawling, became concise and accurate. What was meant to be zone out music became some of my most infectious and melodic blast at full volume while driving badly music.”

The musician says his taste lies between that of his mother, who loves Phantom Of The Opera and Bon Jovi, and his son, who adores Katy Perry and Donna Summer, taking musical influences from all sources while trying to create his most euphoric music to date.

He will bring his new repertoire, old favourites and offerings from Gomez back catalogue to fans all over Australia in November and early December this year. Check out theGuide for all the tour details.
