Get Your Hells Bells On: AC/DC Have All But Confirmed A 2025 Australian Tour

20 June 2025 | 8:50 pm | Mary Varvaris

The AC/DC lightning bolt has been spotted by a team member of popular live music app Whatslively, and it's just a few minutes away from the MCG.

More AC/DC More AC/DC

In the most promising sign of AC/DC announcing an Australian tour soon, the band’s iconic lightning bolt logo has appeared in the heart of Melbourne, and a trusted tour promoter has listed the probability of the tour at 100%.

Whatslively have spotted something huge: the AC/DC lightning bolt has been located just a few minutes away from the MCG, where the band is heavily tipped to perform this year. With Whatslively’s post shared on social media tonight, it’s fair to assume that an AC/DC tour announcement is all but imminent.

In their post, the Nylex Plastics silo in Cremorne—just 2.6 kilometres from the MCG—is lit up with the lightning bolt. According to a post on r/melbourne on Reddit, the artwork is lit up in orange, yellow, red, and green.

The art on the silo aligns with The Music’s report earlier this year that AC/DC will likely perform at the MCG later this year (reportedly between October and December), and potentially headline the bp Adelaide Supercars Grand Final.

Earlier this week, The Music reported on 3AW’s recent Rumour File episode, which stated that it’s been “confirmed” that AC/DC will perform at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for two nights later this year – 12 November and 16 November.

Keep up with The Music; we’ll report the information as it rolls in.

Rumours about AC/DC touring Australia this year have been swirling for months. In January, the Herald Sun reported on all the potential high-profile tours that 2025 could include. The report featured a small note saying that the hard rock exports are “strongly tipped for stadium dates in the last quarter of 2025 as part of their PWR UP tour,” according to “tour insiders.”

AC/DC last headlined a tour in Australia in December 2015. On that run—the Rock Or Bust World Tour, promoting the album of the same name—the band played in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth. Hopefully, the same major cities will be included on the upcoming tour.

Reviewing their show at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium—now known as Marvel Stadium—in 2015, The Music’s Bryget Chrisfield described AC/DC as “undeniable rock'n'roll gods.”

In a review of their show at Domain Stadium (or the Subiaco Oval), The Music’s Mark Beresford added:

AC/DC live has truly become a rite of passage for Australian music fans, the crowd spanning so many generations, all singing along to rock classics soaked in blue-collared, sun-drenched pub styles, captivating everyone from the hardcore fans driving eight hours to attend to the inner city kid who wants to experience the phenomenon while they still can. It's absolutely enormous, it's an all-inclusive show and it's rock and fucking roll — long live AC/DC.
