A warehouse that’s home to merchandise for DZ Deathrays, Cub Sport, Tiny Little Houses, Carl Barron, and numerous Australian musical theatre productions has gone up in flames. While DZ Deathrays revealed they’d lost all their merchandise and vinyl in Australia in the fire, they shared the positive news that no one was injured.
The Araca Group warehouse in Marrickville’s industrial estate reportedly caught flames at approximately 3:30 am on Wednesday (18 June). Araca Group’s Isaac Broadbent told news.com.au, “The building was full of cardboard boxes, T-shirts, tour programs, vinyl records, mugs, hats, beanies. Whatever caused the fire, all that would have gone up in seconds.”
The fire was under control by 5:30 am, but firefighters were still trying to extinguish the fire by 7:30 am. The flames didn’t make their way to neighbouring businesses.
Broadbent said he was alerted to the fire in the building by police at approximately 3:30 am. They called him as his car was parked outside the Araca Group warehouse to check if he was inside.
“At about 3.30 am, I got a phone call from the police letting me know my car was parked outside a building that’s currently on fire,” Broadbent told news.com.au.
“They called to check if I was inside the building; thankfully, I wasn’t.”

He added, “I was in the building at 11 pm, and within three hours it was completely ablaze. I’m fairly certain the building’s been condemned and will have to be bulldozed.”
DZ Deathrays wrote on social media yesterday (19 June), “FYI everyone. Our merch warehouse went up in flames last night, so we have lost all our merch and vinyl in Australia. Thankfully no one was injured. If you were waiting on any merch items, we are sorry, we will be in touch.”
Araca Group sells merchandise for Carl Barron, Cub Sport, DZ Deathrays, Tiny Little Houses, Eves Karydas, A-List Entertainment, the Beetlejuice musical, Hadestown, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Wicked: The Musical.
DZ Deathrays are currently on tour in Europe before a run of UK dates. They also just announced a special London show for July with special guests Mannequin Death Squad.
