Maybe there is something a little sweet about Gabriella Cilmi.
Gabriella Cilmi is heading into 2023 with her head held high after sharing some truly staggering streaming stats on her Instagram. Turns out Sweet About Me is having a resurgence after the Aussie hitmaker seemingly disappeared after dominating the 2008 ARIAs.
In the post, Cilmi wrote, "Ciao 2022. Thankyou so much to everyone who’s listened to my music this year and for allowing me to continue to do this. Wishing you and the ones you love the best year in 2023."
Attaching a photo of her Spotify Wrapped For Artists, Cilmi shows that she has amassed a whopping 13.5 million streams, 694,000 hours listened to, and 3.7 million listeners over 181 countries in 2022.
Truly remarkable figures for an artist who hasn't released any new music since 2019. Turns out far from disappearing, Cilmi has moved to the UK, where she had four charting singles from her first two albums (including a top ten placing for Sweet About Me.
On her celabratory Instagram post, swiping across to the next slide, you can see a very happy and grateful Cilmi holding onto a guitar. Our only hope is that this means more music in 2023!

Originally rising to fame with her smash hit single Sweet About Me, which has hit 50 million streams on both Spotify and YouTube, the Australian singer-songwriter went on to win six ARIA Awards, sign a record deal with Island Records UK and go on to release two successful albums, Lessons To Be Learned and Ten.
Her latest release is an E.P named The Water, which was released in 2019. Unfortunately, due to lockdowns in her now home country of the UK, she was unable to tour it.
