Burn Gently, the comprehensive documentary about Australian hip-hop music, released in 2023, will have a free screening in Melbourne this month.

Taking place on Thursday, 24 July, at the Inner North music venue, the Northcote Social Club, the screening will be part of the venue’s nearly two-month-long 20th anniversary celebrations.

The documentary was born out of a collaboration between Sensible Antixx Records, N'fa Jones and Hideaway Productions and features an incredible roster of musical talent, including Genesis Owusu, Urthboy, Ecca Vancal, Bliss n Eso, L-FRESH The LION, Drapht, Baker Boy, Sampa The Great, and stacks more.

Following its release in 2023, Burn Gently played at Splendour In The Grass and found its home on SBS On Demand until late 2024. Now, hip-hop fans across Victoria will have the opportunity to watch the documentary once more.

Anthony Attridge, Director of Sensible Antixx Records, who teamed up with the Northcote Social Club for this event, said: “With Northcote Social Club celebrating their 20th birthday this year, we’re overjoyed in being able to have our film screen again.

“We ran shows, fundraisers, charity gigs - you name it, NSC are one of our favourite venues and we’re nothing short of stoked to keep the fire burning at one of our favourite spots!”
