Foxtel To Cut Another TV Music Channel This Month

The channel will cease on 30 June.

Foxtel TV music channel Smooth will cease at the end of this month.

TV Blackbox reported the news today and Foxtel has now confirmed to The Music that Smooth will cease on 30 June with Foxtel Arts to return to a 24 hour dedicated arts channel from then on.

The news comes after Foxtel announced it will also farewell music channels including including [V], Max and CMC at the end of this month following a new partnership with ViacomCBS which will will "provide a fresh, new line-up of music channels offering a wider range of music genres for Foxtel subscribers"

The new music channels starting in July include:

  • MTV HITS

The chart-toppers, award-winners and stadium-fillers from Australia and across the globe. A non-stop music festival of the hottest hits right now.

Smooth launched in late 2013 with regular hosts Marcia Hines and Cameron Daddo. In 2017, the channel went part-time and now airs between midnight-6pm, with Foxtel Arts taking over from that time.
