The long-running improv comedy series will make its debut in the second half of this year
Australia is the next country in line to score a local adaptation of beloved British improv comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway? after Foxtel commissioned an Australian version of the long-running series for The Comedy Channel.
The show, which is arguably best known these days for the US adaptation hosted by Drew Carey and Aisha Tyler, will be hosted by Aussie comedian and Nova Melbourne breakfast host Tommy Little, who will be flanked by seven yet-to-be-announced ensemble cast members to pull off the quirky games and TheatresportsTM-style shenanigans that have made its international predecessors such global success stories.
"Whose Line Is It Anyway? has been a favourite on The Comedy Channel for many years and we are excited to do our own local version," Foxtel head of premium entertainment Graham Burrells said in a statement. "The new show will be an energetic and unpredictable event with a fantastic cast of comedy heavyweights and new talent. It's Whose Line but not as you've seen it before."
Little echoed Burrells' sentiments, saying in a statement, "It's such an honour to be part of such an iconic show. I get to watch Australia's best improvisers create magic and then take the piss if they stuff up. I can't wait to get started."
