Alternative rock favourites Pixies have announced a new bass player in the way of former A Perfect Circle member Paz Lenchatin.

In a statement on their website, the band revealed Lenchatin would be joining them for their upcoming tours of North America, South America and Europe. The veteran bassist has also previously played with ZWAN and The Entrance Band.

The announcement comes just a week after it was revealed that Kim Deal's replacement Kim Shattuck was told she was no longer needed by the band after a tenure of only four months. Founding member Deal left the Pixies in June and has been focussing a lot of her time into other band The Breeders, who toured Australia a few months back.
