Flight Of The ConchordsComedy music duo Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie will reunite as Flight of the Conchords for their first performance in eight years at this year’s Netflix Is A Joke Fest, heading to Los Angeles this May, Variety and Consequence of Sound report.
The pair last performed together on their 2018 tour, which ended with the HBO special Flight of the Conchords: Live in London.
Netflix Is A Joke Fest will take place at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday, 9 May. Tickets will be available this Friday, 23 January, via Ticketmaster.
At the time of publication, it’s unclear whether Flight Of The Conchords’ reunion in May will lead to a full-blown reformation tour or if it will be a one-off performance. Also appearing at the festival are comedians such as Conan O’Brien, John Mulaney, Nikki Glaser, Kevin Hart, Jon Stewart, Sarah Silverman, Bill Burr, Katt Williams, and many others.
Following their formation as Flight Of The Conchords in 1998, the New Zealand duo developed a reputation for their energetic live shows, which featured acoustic guitars and satire. In addition to a successful career in Australia and New Zealand, the pair frequently featured at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and hosted a BBC radio series.

From 2007 to 2009, the duo starred as fictionalised versions of themselves on the HBO series Flight Of The Conchords. Despite a mere two-season run, it remains a cult comedy to this day, earning an Emmy nomination while it aired.
Clement and McKenzie have released two albums and an EP and won a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album. After a reunion tour in 2012 and infrequent festival appearances, the duo’s most recent performance took place in 2018. Their last performance in Los Angeles was a decade ago, while Australian audiences last saw Flight Of The Conchords in 2012.
This March, McKenzie will return to Australia on his Freak Out City tour in support of his latest album of the same name. For the Australian shows, McKenzie and his band will spotlight their signature variety-style show, celebrating music, humour, and storytelling.
