New Zealand musician and comedian Bret McKenzie is returning to Australia this March, locking in tour dates along the East Coast.
Touring in support of his latest album, Freak Out City, released via Sub Pop last August, the Grammy and Academy Award-winning artist is heading Down Under for a string of intimate shows.
The tour begins at Melbourne’s Thornbury Theatre on Friday, 20 March. It continues at Brisbane’s The Tivoli on Wednesday, 25 March, and concludes at Sydney’s Factory Theatre on Friday, 27 March. Pre-sale tickets will be available at 10 am local time this Thursday, 15 January, followed by the general sale on Friday, 16 January, at 9 am local time.

McKenzie is heading to Australia following a series of sold-out residencies in the US and the UK. For the Australian shows, McKenzie and his band will spotlight their signature variety-style show, celebrating music, humour, and storytelling.
Best known as one-half of the Flight of the Conchords – alongside Jemaine Clement – McKenzie is also a talented musician, having overdubbed lead guitar, drums, and keyboards on Flight of the Conchords songs.

McKenzie has established a career forged on unforgettable songwriting, with his songs performed by the likes of Celine Dion, Lizzo, and iconic characters Kermit the Frog, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Homer Simpson. As well as Flight of the Conchords, McKenzie is also recognised for his work on The Muppets (2011) and Muppets Most Wanted (2014).
Fans can expect evenings of newly released songs, old favourites, and hilarious anecdotes, which showcase his abilities as a revered comedic songwriter.
