Tom DeLonge chronicles the drama in San Diego on his Instagram page

More blink-182 More blink-182

As Californian firefighters struggle to contain blazes currently raging in San Diego County in the US, blink-182 guitarist and co-vocalist Tom DeLonge, also of Angels and Airwaves and formerly Box Car Racer, took to his Instagram and Facebook accounts to chronicle the unfolding drama around his studios in Carlsbad, San Diego.

The encroaching flames, from a fire that had jumped a nearby road, resulted in a mandatory evacuation of DeLonge's property. Evacuation orders for the Carlsbad area have been increased to 15,000 people, up from 12,000 a few hours ago, with San Diego County now in an official state of emergency in order to combat and deal with the inferno.

The overwhelmed firefighters have been trying to bring the Carlsbad blaze under control since yesterday, but the scope of the operation - despite extra manpower being brought in from other parts of southern California - in addition to a series of new fires that have since broken out are making the task one of Herculean proportions.

During the evacuation, a seemingly calm DeLonge posted a 15-second video to his Facebook wall, ostensibly to update fans of his whereabouts, but also sounding a little scarily "this will be my final Captain's Log" in tone.

"Stuck in traffic; evacuated my studio; evacuated all of our computers. The fires have now reached my company building and my studio. I'm stuck in traffic, and there's dark, black smoke right outside of my car," he says in the short clip.

He posted the photos shortly afterwards.
