Father's Day Banned From Aus Cinemas

The horror-comedy was refused classification by the Australian Government Classification board just two days before it was scheduled to screen.

Father's Day - the Canadian horror-comedy film - has been banned two days before screening at the Monster Fest Film Festival at Melbourne's Cinema Nova.

It was refused classication by the Australian Government Classification board, who have not yet disclosed the reasons behind banning the film.

The film's director was not impressed. "This is an outrageous decision", said Neil Foley. "Yes Father's Day is an edgy film, but it is an hilarious and over-the-top spoof that, despite it's gore, is actually one of the sweetest films in the Monster Fest program!"

Father's Day tells the story of a one-eyed vigilante named Ahab who sets out to stop the murderous rampage of a psychopath dubbed "The Father's Day Killer".

The film's slot at Monster Fest will be replaced by Dead Hooker In A Trunk, co-directed by Jen and Sylvia Soska.
