John Farnham’s family have provided a brief update about the legendary singer’s health following successful surgery to remove mouth cancer last August.
He said about the diagnosis last year, “Cancer diagnosis is something that so many people face every single day, and countless others have walked this path before me.
"The one thing I know for sure is that we have the best specialist healthcare professionals in Victoria, and we can all be grateful for that. I know I am.”
A few weeks later, he was discharged from the hospital and moved to a rehabilitation centre to continue his treatment.
Gaynor Wheatley (TalentWorks) and David Wilson (Watercooler Talent) shared an update with fans on behalf of the Farnham Family and wrote:
"This week, John has been transferred into a rehabilitation facility. Each of these steps means things are moving in the right direction, and for that, we are enormously thankful.”
That was the last real update about Farnham’s recovery, with his sons Robert and James lending insight into how their father was coping with the diagnosis and subsequent surgery and rehabilitation.
They talked about their father’s enthusiasm for making people laugh on A Current Affair, which is so in character for Farnham (skip to 30 seconds into the below video).
Today, his wife Jill Farnham and the pair’s sons issued a new update, revealing that John is presently being treated for a respiratory infection but, overall, doing well with his rehabilitation.
The statement reads: “John has been receiving ongoing treatment, care and rehabilitation support over recent months from his medical team.
“He is currently being treated for a respiratory infection in hospital, but he is comfortable and receiving the very best care.
Jill Farnham provided this brief update, “John continues his recovery following last year's successful surgery. He's always been a strong and determined person with everything he’s ever done, and we are all so very proud of him. He is responding well to the specialist care he’s receiving.“
Wheatley and Wilson added, “The family would like re-iterate their appreciation for all the medical staff that have attended to John over the past six months and for all the kind messages that been received from across Australia and the world.

We continue hoping for the best for John Farnham - he’s The Voice.
