From a Working Class Man to Working Class Hero, Aussie rock royalty Jimmy Barnes has made the classic John Lennon song his own on new LP My Criminal Record.

Barnes introduced the song into his show last year before recording it for inclusion on his #1 album My Criminal Record which dropped in May.

Premiering today via The Music, the single’s live music video – recorded during the sold-out Red Hot Summer tour last year – sees Barnes in fine form yet again, paying tribute to the iconic song while injecting his own personality into it.

“John Lennon was such a wounded, dark person, and I always felt I was either going to sing that, Mother or Instant Karma,” Barnes said.

“But once I put it in the show, every single line in the song, I could spit out and think, ‘Oh fuck – this is me.’ It was one of the first ones we recorded [for My Criminal Record], and it just seemed to fit on the record so well.”
