"Whilst it pains us to do so, we must award Shelbyville 1 and Springfield 0."
Dr Colossus, The Simpsons-themed Melbourne doom rock band, have picked up a fan in a very unexpected place - Shelbyville, USA. No, really.
Tuff Cuff Records, the Melbourne-based subscription record club, recently launched Dr Colossus' new single Sixty Six & Six which looks at the "lamely rebellious ways of Rod and Todd Flanders as they refuse to go to church (on a Saturday) and utter hell-no’s to any damn vegetables," and took aim at Shelbyville during their launch.
"When Tuff Cuff Records announced the new Dr Colossus single earlier this week we threw in a dig at Shelbyville," shares Tuff Cuff Records Co-Founder's Matthias Baratheon O’Meara.
"Little did we know or expect that within 24 hours we would receive an order from Shelbyville, Tennessee! We are now putting out the call to the 69 or so Springfields in the USA to fight back and if anyone from one of them pre-orders the new Dr Colossus 7”, we will give them a bonus prize bag of goodies from Australia. We will also accept payment in Dollarydoos."
Dr Colossus' lead singer Dr Jon has shared his thoughts on the situation too.
"Whilst it pains us to do so, we must award Shelbyville 1 and Springfield 0," he said. "A bitter sweet lemon to swallow indeed."
