Oh MercyAussie favourites Oh Mercy are delivering a trifecta of excellent news this week; today announcing a new album and national tour, as well as delivering a star-studded music video.
Premiering on theMusic.com.au today, the stellar video for Keep A Light On, the latest single lifted from the Melbourne outfit's forthcoming LP, Café Oblivion, features some very familiar names in Laura Jean, The Triffids' Robert McComb and Graham Lee, The Panics' Jae Laffer and Henry Wagons, just to name a few; check out the clip below.
Café Oblivion, due out on 9 March, is Oh Mercy's fifth studio album and the first since 2015's ARIA Award-winning When We Talk About Love.
Frontman Alex Gow said of the record, "I'm feeling comfortable. I was 29 when I wrote and recorded Café Oblivion.
"With that comfort came the desire and ability to be more playful than I have in the past, lyrically and musically.
"All of the past four albums saw me trying to prove something, ‘Be less like that, be more like this’ - this time around it’s just me being me. I’m a grown man. I’m in a good spot. I think it’s audible."
Café Oblivion was recorded at the famous Grove Studios over the 2016/2017 summer and produced and mixed by Scott Horscroft.
"I don’t remember much else besides watching the cricket and drinking coffee, that’s gotta be a sign of a great recording session," Gow said.
"During my final vocal takes, Scott broke the headphone mix down for me. It read: Channel 1 BAND. Channel 2 VOCALS. Channel 3. CRICKET. It’s important to keep informed."
To celebrate the release, Oh Mercy will embark on a headline tour of the country in April, with shows slated in for Perth, Fremantle, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
