Shy Kidx to release first EP in May

Traditionally-punk record label Epitaph have continued the diversification of their roster with the signing of Italian electronic music artist Shy Kidx.

There's a distinct punk edge to Shy Kidx though, as he played in punk bands as a teenager and has been billed for the American leg of the Vans Warped Tour this year. His first EP, Orion, will be released 14 May and he take his dues from other punk-EDM crossovers Skrillex and The Bloody Beetroots.

Approached by Epitaph boss Brett Gurewitz after a period of touring and hype, Shy Kidx said, “To me the attitude in electronica and punk rock are the same even if there are no lyrics in the music because they both come from the underground. There's a definite relationship between those two worlds because neither one is doing what we're traditionally supposed to be doing with music—and that's what drew me to both genres in the first place.”
