The power of the remix
Brisbane singer-songwriter Emma Louise has landed a top five UK hit today with a remix of a track she released three years ago in Australia.
As reported last week, Louise’s track Jungle has refused to die since it first surfaced in 2011 and has found life in European markets including Germany, Italy and now the UK.
A remix of the track by Berlin based Wankelmut (helped along by an alternate mix by Detroit house veteran MK) has shot to five in the UK singles charts, just behind new tracks by global superstars Taylor Swift (Shake It Off at four) and David Guetta (Lovers On The Sun featuring Sam Martin at one). It is technically the second week in the chart for the track, which entered at the lowly 190 last week before really being pushed.
Another Australians in the Singles Chart is rapper Iggy Azalea – she’s at 12 with Problem featuring Ariana Grande, 15 with Black Widow featuring Rita Ora, 31 with Fancy featuring Charli XCX and 49 with an appearance on TI’s No Mediocre.
