Eminem is set to co-produce a new documentary about obsessive music superfans fittingly called Stans.
Variety dropped the news, which reports that Stans will be co-produced via the rapper’s own Shady Films in partnership with DIGA Studios and Hill District Media. MTV and Paramount will provide initial distribution.
Director Steven Leckart is attached to the project set to land later this year. According to a synopsis, Stans is planned to be a “revealing, edgy, and disarmingly personal journey into the world of superfandom” that will be told through the perspective of Eminem “and the fans that worship him.”
For now, Stans is just a working title, but it fits – who doesn’t love Eminem and Dido’s song Stan?
In a joint statement, Eminem’s longtime manager Paul Rosenberg and Stuart Parr of Shady Films added, “Stans will be the opportunity for us to turn the camera around and ask the audience about being fans — and in some cases, fanatics.
“This is a study of the relationship between fanbase and artist through the lens of one of Eminem’s most fascinating songs and one of the world’s most important entertainers.”

This is a developing story – we’ll share more information as it arrives.
Eminem’s longtime collaborator, Dr Dre, inducted the star into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. To celebrate his induction, Eminem played a medley of hits, including My Name Is, Rap God, Not Afraid and Forever, and brought out Aerosmith's Steven Tyler for a live recreation of the Dream On sample found on Sing For The Moment and Ed Sheeran to reprise Dido's chorus on Stan.
Last June, the rumour mill started up and suggested that Eminem is preparing his return to Australia. He last toured here in 2019, breaking the MCG’s live concert attendance record.
The hype began when a caller rang 104.7 Triple M Adelaide during the station’s Rumour Mill breakfast segment and claimed that Ticketek is in talks with owners at Adelaide Oval for The Eminem Show – a venue that holds approximately 53,000 people.
“I heard a big name is coming to town at the end of the year, and it's Eminem... a friend of a friend let it slip from Ticketek,” the anonymous caller said. “They [Ticketek] are currently working with Adelaide Oval to sort out a venue.”
Two days later, Mark 'Roo' Ricciuto addressed the Eminem touring rumours on his radio show, stating, “They're 100 per cent in negotiations… but it's not done yet. Ticketek are involved and Adelaide Oval,” Daily Mail reports. Ricciuto continued, “It won't be in 2023… it will be between the Adelaide Oval Test match against the West Indies and Round one of the football.”
According to Ricciuto’s sources and predictions, the rumoured Eminem tour was set to take place at any point between January and mid-March 2024 – a bit too short notice for it to happen next month. Hopefully, he will return to Australia soon.
